In both illustration and hand craft, narrative is always present. Culling works from the last 15 years, Susan Norton presents painting, drawing, and sculpture created to illuminate events, the written word, music, and intimate spaces. Illustrations for editorial articles, posters, and album covers are here. Sculptures and paintings created during and for site-specific events are here. Each piece was created as a labor of love, made to endorse the every day and the transcendent aspects of our lives. The act of creation is a carefully constructed meditation upon the simple and complex things that we cherish.
Pieces included here are for sale. Archival materials were used wherever possible/applicable, including acid-free mats and mounting materials, as well as UV-resistant glass. Please contact to inquire about purchases and special pricing at [email protected].

Inspired by quantum physics and the tenet that all matter is energy, "Chromodynamics" addresses the role of energetic forms in space. The viewers are invited to consider themselves and their environment as form in motion, and to place emphasis upon often over-looked sensations and dimension - to move from the typical daily abstractions of language and linear narrative into the sense of the space they currently occupy, their own roles as energy forms.
Themes of repetition, in motifs of swirling arrows and reflective surfaces multiplying the appearances of shapes, and in the meditative quality hand stitching elevate mundane materials and to consecrated objects.
